Before coming to GFM, she did a one year internship
with a local church. During
that time, she discovered a small group of graduate students meeting at
Georgia Tech associated with Grad Resources.
She quickly
began to realize the unique needs of graduate students, and a year after
joining the group at Georgia Tech, she also became involved with another
small group of graduate students at Emory University.
Chandra and her husband, Kennan, grew up in the
small, rural town of Portales, New Mexico, where Chandra received her
Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in May 2001 from Eastern New
Mexico University. Chandra
was first introduced to InterVarsity while Kennan was attending Emory
University, where he was part of the undergrad chapter.
She married Kennan in June 2001 and moved to Atlanta to start
teaching in the fall. She
taught in south DeKalb County for three character-building years, and was
called to work at the church in Spring 2004.
When she’s not meeting with graduate students at
Georgia Tech and Emory, Chandra enjoys spending time with Kennan, now a
PhD student and Campus Staff Volunteer at Georgia Tech, and their two rotten cats, Cider and Newton.
She also loves watching Georgia Tech football (through the ups and
downs), reading, baking and scrapbooking. |
